I graduated in Computer Science and completed a lato sensu Master’s in Systems Analysis in São Paulo, Brazil. My career brought me to Lisbon, Portugal; Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Toronto, Canada; and finally to Barcelona, Spain, where I currently live with my wife and an orange cat.

For the past twenty years, I have acted as an architectural multiplier for rapidly growing businesses. I leverage a deep, low-level understanding of data-storage internals to transform monoliths, automate platform operations, and emded engineering discipline organisation-wide, with have a strong bias for designing out systemic risks and failure domains before they require operational intervention.

My journey began in Amsterdam, where I maintained the core RIPE WHOIS Database software for the RIPE NCC. I then spent five years at eBay Classifieds Group (now Adevinta), standardising global data infrastructure platforms across major ebay classifieds properties in the UK, Europe, and Canada, while also contributing to the deployment of their big data platform.

In 2016, I relocated to Toronto to build the Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE) team from scratch at PagerDuty. Over five years, I shifted the engineering culture from reactive firefighting to automated, cloud-native self-service. When global travel restrictions eased after the COVID crisis, my family chose Barcelona for a change of scenery. A technical leadership role at Cisco ThousandEyes followed me there, where I drove the decommissioning of core RDBMS monoliths, fully automated critical database upgrade procedures, and served on the Architecture Board.
